Becoming An Artist
After obtaining my Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Arts, Advertising Art Major, I somehow ended up working in the corporate world, all through my adult life as a bookkeeper and office manager. However I have kept my artistic enthusiasm in my spare time over the years. I have an art studio in my home and dabbled in gouache, water colours, acrylics and soft pastels. I enjoy creating with soft pastels the most, and pastel painting has now become my passion. I am a Richmond resident and has been for the past 45 years. I would like to contribute to my community through my art works, if I can. The artist in me is inspired by sunrises, sunsets, flames, lighted windows, street lights at night, skies and water (oceans, rivers, and waterfalls). The essence of capturing light against dark is very appealing to me. The distinctive part of me loves to paint little details that gives the essence of realism combined with impressionistic strokes. Landscape painting is my passion. I can do animal art and still life as well, but would prefer to paint landscapes. I do accept commission work. My desire to be an artist, from the time I was a young girl, is now a reality.
