WE SPEAK FOR THE ARTS

OUR MISSION & VISION

The Community Arts Council of Richmond (CACR)’s purpose is to provide and broaden opportunities for citizens of all ages to participate in, learn and benefit from the arts in all its forms in a manner that is inclusive and representative. We sponsor public exhibitions, performances, classes, workshops and special programs and are constantly in search of new ways in which to assist in the development of art and culture in the city of Richmond.

OUR MANDATE​

  • The mandate for the Society shall represent the purposes of the Society as set out in Section 2 (“Purposes”) of its Constitution:
  • To deliver comprehensive programs and service system for the Society’s members and the community as a whole.
  • To facilitate the development of balanced, diverse, quality programs in the Arts for its members.
  • To foster community leadership of the Society by participating in various programs of leadership training and education.
  • To encourage co-operation and co-ordination amongst all private and public agencies, organizations, member groups, clubs and affiliates in the delivery of programs.
  • To promote public understanding of current issues in the Arts by providing effective advocacy and resource services.
  • To make known to the governments of Richmond, British Columbia, and Canada the funding needs of the members and to apply for adequate funding to sustain the Arts.

OUR IMPACT​

  • Raised major funds towards capital building projects such as The Gateway Theatre and the Richmond Cultural Centre.
  • Contributed significantly to all art disciplines in the form of grants, scholarships, and event sponsorship.
  • Organized and hosted a number of classes and workshops throughout the city.
  • Supported other arts and culture organizations through financial and intellectual assistance.
  • Provided gallery space for artist members to exhibit and sell their work at a nominal cost.
  • Have produced countless exhibitions and shows.
  • Worked and partnered with other arts and culture groups and provide expertise and experience.
  • Support programs that provide underserved youth the opportunity to explore the arts.
