About the artist
Weila Suo is a visual artist and educator based in Richmond, British Columbia. Her contemporary watercolor practice explores emotional vulnerability, memory, imagination, and the quiet spaces between lived experience and inner reflection. Working with translucent washes, layered colour, delicate forms, and intentional negative space, she creates intimate dreamlike environments in which flowers, birds, and small animals become carriers of emotion and memory. Suo holds a BFA in Visual Art from Emily Carr University of Art + Design and a Diploma in Interpretation and Translation from Simon Fraser University. Alongside her studio practice, she has more than a decade of experience teaching visual art and youth programs. Her work has been exhibited in juried and group exhibitions across British Columbia and Ontario, including Surrey Art Gallery, Historic Stewart Farm, Langley Arts Council, ACS Gallery, and Neilson Park Creative Centre.
