Reach To Teach 2022

Our final Reach To Teach session for the school year wrapped up on Thursday June 16 with the celebration of Learning. We want to thank all of those involved behind the scenes and all of the students for their participation!

This Reach To Teach event proved to be very dynamic and boasted our biggest student participation yet, 72 students in total! With a new school joining our program for the first time, we welcomed Hawthorne Elementary to the program, and we were happy to have Dixon Elementary return for this session.

Students were exposed to amazing contemporary Japanese artist Takashi Murakami to inspire their art piece. As a group we talked about the physical and metaphorical characteristics of Takashi’s work. We delved into the aesthetics that made him famous including his sunflower motifs and Super Flat style! Students then interpreted his message and his art and made it their own with each individual piece reflecting the motifs or styles of the students themselves!
