Faces of Richmond

Senior Woman

In celebration of BC Seniors’ Week 2022, from June 6th to 12th, the Community Arts Council of Richmond (CACR) have partnered with the Minoru Centre for Active Living (MCAL) to display an exhibition featuring portraits of seniors in Richmond. Each portrait will be painted by a local artist and the interpretative portrait they kindly create will be gifted to their respective senior models! The Faces of Richmond exhibition will take place in the MCAL hall during BC Seniors’ Week.

For people who are unable to attend the exhibition in person, a virtual exhibition will be created in tandem with the exhibition in MCAL. The virtual exhibition will be hosted on the CACR website.

Additionally, an audio piece will be recorded from the seniors to accompany each portrait – stories that contain nuggets of wisdom or personal messages to Richmond. Through the combination of art and story, each portrait shares more than just the presence of our elders and grandparents in our community, but a window into their lives and legacies as well! The audio pieces will be accessed via a QR code attached to the portrait, or through the virtual exhibition.

A special thanks to our sponsor, Phoenix Art Workshop, for their generous contributions toward the Faces of Richmond exhibition!
